LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Laser Hair Removal is currently the gold standard to achieve permanent removal of unwanted hair. Based on the principle of selective photo-thermolysis, a laser light is absorbed by the melanine in the hair shaft and converted into heat, to create a selective thermo-injury. This technology has evolved over the years and it is now utilized to treat all skin types including Afro-Caribbean (skin type VI) without any particular discomfort or side effects.
At The Rejuvenation Clinic & MediSpa, we have been offering laser hair removal for the past 10 years. We have treated thousands of patients without any long term complications. In particular Dr Russo has been instrumental in the 90 s, in the design, development and FDA approval of a variety of laser hair removal systems and has over 15 years of clinical expertise. He was the first physician to develop and use the Long Pulse Nd:YAG laser for permanent hair removal in dark skin types *, a technology now utilised worldwide and, over the years, he has trained in this technology, hundreds of physicians around the world.
HOW IT WORKS ?
Based on the principle of selective photo-thermolysis, a laser light is absorbed by the melanine in the hair shaft and converted into heat, to create a selective thermo-injury. Because only the hair in the anagen phase (the growing phase) is affected, a course of a minimum of 6 treatments are usually required, at an interval of 4 to 8 weeks, in order to treat all hair. Depending on the colour of your skin and the colour and size of the hair, a variety of laser systems can be utilised including IPL, Alexandrite/Diode and Nd:YAG. Dr Russo has extensive clinical experience with all these lasers that are all available at The Rejuvenation Clinic & MediSpa. Depending to your skin type and hair colour Dr Russo will prescribe the correct laser treatment in order to archive a long lasting result without any side effects or complications.
The area to be treated needs to be shaved 24 hours prior to the laser treatment and should not be waxed for the all duration of the course.
The treatment is generally not painful, with a sensation similar to a rubber band been snapped on your skin. Modern laser systems are very fast and normally takes only few minutes to treat a small area like the face to up to half an hour for a large area like the legs. Following the treatment is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure (sun-bathing) for up to 2 weeks and the use of an SPF product for up to 4 weeks following the treatment. All skin-types can be easily treated.
A patch test is usually required 24 hours prior to all laser hair removal treatments.
All laser treatments are performed exclusively by Dr Mario Luca Russo
