THE
PRP REJUVENATION PROCEDURE
Known for
its groundbreaking anti-ageing
treatment, The Rejuvenation
Clinic is once again at the
forefront of antiageing procedures.
We have recently introduced
a revolutionary PRP
Rejuvenation Procedure that
uses the patient?s own plasma,
platelets and growth factors
for a natural self rejuvenation
of the face, neck, hands
or any tissue damaged by
trauma, burns or inflammatory
processes like acne
With the treatment, developed
by leading Harley Street
cosmetic surgeon Dr Mario
Luca Russo, MD, a sample
of blood is taken and is
processed in order to separate
platelets and plasma from
the rest of the blood. The
PRP is then injected into
areas where rejuvenation
is required such as wrinkles,
sun damage and acne, burn
or traumatic scars. The PRP
will activate the local stem
cells that will start to
tighten, recontour and regenerate
the tissue where they are
injected.
HOW
IT WORKS ? PRP is a mix
of concentrated platelets
and serum. Why is this important?
Surgeons have known for years
that healing depends on platelets.
These very tiny blood components
are rich in growth factors
and help form a blood clot
during injury. When you injure
an area like a ligament or
a muscle, they seep into
the wound during the bleeding
that normally occurs. They
then set up a blood clot
to stop the bleeding and
start to release growth factors
to the area to coordinate
a repair response. Over the
first week or so, they act
as a time release ?pill? that
secretes various growth factors
as various times. These time
release growth factors do
things like bring in stem
cells and bring in new blood
vessels to ensure that the
body can get more blood to
the area.
To prepare a PRP, a small
amount of blood is taken
from the patient's arm. The
blood is then placed in a
centrifuge. The centrifuge
spins and separates the platelets
from the rest of the blood
components. The entire process
takes less than 10 minutes
and increases the concentration
of platelets and growth factors
up to 600%. Using the patient's
own blood, specially prepared
platelets are taken and re-injected
into the affected area. These
platelets release special
growth factors that lead
to tissue repair.
The human body has a remarkable
ability to heal itself, and
by re-injecting concentrated
platelets, we are facilitating
the natural healing process.
The PRP injections are calling
in stem cells to repair the
area. When performing these
injections, is important
to follow certain recommendation
to maximize stem cell release
to optimize healing. We know
certain factors diminish
stem cell release such as
smoking and alcohol and antinflammatory
drugs intake, so is important
to stop smoking and drinking
one week before and following
the PRP procedure.
